The progress of the Jewish reconstruction work in Palestine was emphasized by Lord Plumer in his address at the opening of the second Near East Exhibition and Fair, arranged by the Judea Industrial Corporation, a New York company.
This exhibition, in comparison with that of last fall, marks the progress of Palestine industry, the High Commissioner stated, adding that although the achievements of the industrialist must be recognized, the rights of labor and its contribution to the development of Palestine should not be overlooked. Advantages must be given to the laboring classes to enjoy the fruit of their work. He expressed the wish that the Exhibition become a permanent institution in Tel Aviv.
Mr. Bloch, representative of the Tel Aviv municipality, urged government assistance for Palestine industry. Mr. Nahum Chazan, president of the Judea Industrial Corporation spoke on behalf of the American Jewish Order Sons of Zion and the Judea Company. Mr. Gordon, director of the Exhibition, and Mr. Assam also delivered addresses.
