Coming to Pittsburgh at the invitation of Western Pennsylvania Zionists and the Jewish National Fund, to help celebrate the George Washington Bicentennial and further local interest in reafforestation work in Palestine, Lord Harry Snell, recent Undersecretary of State for India, and Senator Gerald P. Nye, were guests at the local “Y” last night at a banquet attended by 150 of this city’s outstanding Jewish citizens.
Both were speakers at a large public meeting which followed the banquet.
Charles J. Rosenbloom greeted the visitors in behalf of the local community. Other speakers included Jacob B. Hoffman, Pennsylvania State Chairman of the Washington Forest Committee, Benjamin Lencher and Alexander Cooper. Dr. M. B. Lichtenstein, president of the Zionist Region No. 5 was chairman of the arrangements committee.
