Former opponents of the Palestine mandate owe the Jewish people an apology in view of their service to Great Britain in developing Haifa as a Mediterranean base, declared Lord Strabolgi, addressing a dinner meeting of the Jewish Secondary School.

Maintaining that Haifa is the greatest base on the Mediterranean, Lord Strabolgi said:

“Palestine is now the key of the Mediterranean. If trouble comes, it is the builders of Haifa who will stand loyally by us. Those who were blind enough in the old days to attack the Palestine mandate may now think otherwise and they owe the Jewish people an apology.”
