Steps to create an organization for coordinating the money-raising efforts of Los Angeles Jewry are being taken here. A committee under the chairmanship of Lester W. Roth is proceeding to organize a corporation to be known as the United Jewish Welfare Fund, whose purpose, it was announced, will be to raise in an annual campaign, a sum of money to enable the Jewish community of Los Angeles to discharge its obligations towards the regional, national and international Jewish causes. Among these are the United Jewish Campaign, the United Palestine Appeal, the Jewish Educational Association, the B’nai B’rith Wider Scope and Hillel Foundation, the American Pro Falasha Committee, the Ex-Patients Tubercular Home of Denver, the Leo N. Levi Memorial Hospital of Hot Springs, the Jewish Welfare Board, the National Farm School, the Intercollegiate Menorah Association, and many others.

It is expected that the campaign for a sum of money to be agreed upon by the Budget Committee, will be conducted in May.
