A permanent tribute to Ludwig Schiff, pioneer Los Angeles merchant and philanthropist, in the form of the Ludwig Schiff Memorial Fund, was announced by the Jewish Community Foundation of the Los Angeles Jewish Federation-Council.
Mr. Schiff, who was 87 at his death last week, was associated for more than seven decades with the development of the Los Angeles Jewish community. He was a member of the board of directors of many Jewish and general community civic organizations. Born in Frankfurt, he came to the United States when he was 12.
