Louis B. Mayer, motion-picture executive, last night received the 1950 Gold Medal of Merit from the Jewish War Veterans “for distinguished service on behalf of world understanding of America and the American way of life.” The award was presented to him at the 55th anniversary of the organization held at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. The invocation was delivered by Francis Cardinal ?pellman, Archbishop of New York.
