Louis D. Horowitz Resigns As Malben Director; Joins C.J.F.W.F. in New York

Louis D. Horowitz has resigned from his post as director-general of Malben, the Joint Distribution Committee services in Israel, it was announced here today by Charles Jordan, overseas director of the JDC. Mr. Horowitz, who served in the post since 1958, is returning to the United States to accept a position with the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds.

Mr. Jordan, who expressed regret over the resignation of Mr. Horowitz, paid tribute to his “brilliant” services as head of Malben, and cited his work in expanding the scope of the organization during the period, when the number of persons aided by Malben increased from 22,000 in 1958 to 48,000 in 1961. A successor will be announced shortly, Mr. Jordan said.
