Louis Lipsky, president of the Zionist Organization of America, was elected president of the Judea Life Insurance Company at a meeting of the Board of Directors yesterday afternoon at the company’s offices, David Freiberger, newly elected secretary, announced. The election of Mr. Lipsky to head of the company, which was incorporated under the laws of the State of New York on April, 1927, was declared by the directors to be “the most progressive step for the building up of the company that has been made since the Judea Life Insurance Company was organized.”
In view of the fact that the Judea Life Insurance Company is owned by the Judea Insurance Company, Ltd., of Palestine, the election of the Zionist leader to the presidency of the organization is expected to accelerate the growth of the New York company, which already has close to $14,000,000 insurance in force. Bernard S. Deutsch, president of the Bronx County Bar Association and president of the American Jewish Congress, together with M. D. Mosessohn of the “Jewish Tribune,” and Irving Rosenzweig, were elected vice-presidents.
A statement issued by the Board of Directors following the election of Mr. Lipsky as president read as follows:
“The Judea Life Insurance Company announces with pride that it has elected Louis Lipsky as its president. Recognized as one of the outstanding Jewish figures of America, he brings to the position the qualities for leadership and the executive ability which will mean much to a company whose background has a particular appeal to the Jews of America. To our stockholders as well as to our policyholders the election of Mr. Lipsky as well as the election of a number of additional prominent Jewish business men and Zionists as directors, is a token of the forward-looking policy which the Judea Life Insurance Company has pursued from its very inception. It is the most progressive step for the building up of the Company that has been made since the Judea Life Insurance Company was organized.”
