The dedication of the new Louis Marshall Memorial Scientific Building, which is being erected on the campus of the New York State College of Forestry, Syracuse University, and which, outside of a few details, is nearly completed, will take place early in November, according to the committee in charge of the ceremonies.
Alfred E. Smith, former governor of New York State, and chairman of the board of trustees, is scheduled to be one of the participants in the dedication program.
The edifice will be ready for occupancy within the next two weeks, in time to receive the students when they will return for the fall opening of the college late this month. Already a graveled driveway is being laid from the end of Irving Avenue around the Stadium to the western entrance of the long red brick structure, and in front of it, the ground is being terraced for the grass and trees.
The first floor of the building is occupied largely by the auditorium, which will be the largest on the campus and will seat the entire student body of the college. The second and third floors will contain laboratories with the latest improvements, which will be used for scientific experiments, research and discoveries, while the top floor will have specially constructed refrigerator store-rooms.
