For the second time in six years the Legislature of the State of Louisiana has called on the State Department to take action to bring about peace between Israel and the Arab states.
In a joint resolution adopted by both houses of the Legislature, the State Department was asked to withhold arms shipments to either party until peace is declared. The resolution, sponsored by the New Orleans Zionist District, also urges the State Department to use its good offices to bring the parties together for peace negotiations.
In 1948, when the Arab invasion of Israel was still in progress, the Louisiana Legislature also appealed to the State Department to act to bring about peace in the Middle East. A copy of the current resolution hat been forwarded to the State Department and to the Secretary General of the United Nations.
