Lubavitch rabbis gathered in a Moscow hotel to elect their own chief rabbi of Russia, Berel Lazar. There are now two rabbis holding that title, the other being Rabbi Adolph Shayevich. The vote by the Lubavitch rabbis is likely to aggravate the communal in-fighting that has lately characterized Russian Jewry.
