The lynching of a spy, engaged in the turning over of tourists illegally in Palestine to the police, was repeatedly threatened here last night, when an excited Jewish crowd spotted the spy and cornered him in a barber shop. After the informer had been rescued by two policemen and a detective, the crowd followed the officials to the police station. Stones were hurled at the police station and cries of “lynch him” were frequently heard. Several attempts to disperse the crowd failed, as they reassembled repeatedly.
