M. Henri Torres, Schwartzbard’s counsel, in an interview with the representative of the Paris Yiddish newspaper, “Pariser Hajnt,” stated that the purpose of his journey to Russia was not the Schwartzbard case. He said that he made the trip on behalf of another client whose trial is soon to begin in Russia.
While in Russia, M. Torres saw many people with whom he discussed many questions, among them the Schwartzbard case. Schwartzbard, he stated, is feeling well in prison and is calmly awaiting his trial.
