Maccabi Australia resigned from the Maccabi World Union, citing the world organization’s failure to accept its “moral responsibility” for the coilapse of the bridge at the opening ceremony of the Maccabiah Games in Israel during the summer. It also cited the failure of certain members of the executive committee to resign.
