B’nai B’rith began a year-long celebration of its 125th anniversary tonight with a birthday party at Madison Square Garden attended by 15,000 members of the order and their friends. Among the audience were more than 1,000 teenage members of the B’nai B’rith Youth Organization and students from Hillel Foundations on campuses throughout the country.
Dore Schary, national chairman of B’nai B’rith’s Anti-Defamation League, produced, directed and narrated the program which dramatized the organization’s work in three areas — youth, Israel and the ADL. Dr. William L. Wexler, international president of B’nai B’rith, was the principal speaker. The anniversary will be observed by B’nai B’rith organizations in 46 countries.
