Although the Jews of Canada won equal rights 124 years ago, “they are still finding that prejudice bars them from many jobs, schools, clubs and even some hospitals, “according to an article in “Saturday Night,” popular Canadian weekly. The article was published in connection with the anniversary of the grant of equal rights to the Jews here.
The article gives the Jewish population of Canada as 230, 000. It notes that they live in every province and have made considerable contributions to the life of the country. “They have produced leading writers, actors and doctors,” it commented “Several are experts in law, economics and government. Many are tops in the field of entertainment.”
