A plea that social work be not overlooked during the present period of depression was made by Magistrate Jonah J. Goldstein at the annual dinner meeting of the Jewish Big Brothers, held at the Y.M.H.A., Tuesday night. Neglect of character building efforts is short-sighted and socially criminal, he said.
“One dollar cut today from budgets dealing with social service will cost a thousand dollars twenty years hence,” he said. “We have no right to declare a moratorium on matters of the spirit, health and character.”
