Mahmoud Abbas sought to assert his control over Palestinian border crossings. “Administration of the crossing points and borders will fall directly under the jurisdiction of the president,” a statement from the Palestinian Authority president’s office said Wednesday, Reuters reported. Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh rejected Abbas’ claim and said Hamas would control the security forces.
