Mahmoud Abbas warned Congress that its “blind support” for Israel was threatening the “road map” peace plan. Israeli actions such as construction of a fence to keep out suicide bombers undermine the nascent peace process, the Palestinian Authority prime minister said. Abbas also told legislators on the House of Representatives’ International Relations Committee that he remains loyal to Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat, despite the U.S. decision to shun Arafat because of his alleged ties to terrorism.
