Leaders of major national Jewish organizations will meet here tomorrow, under the auspices of the Synagogue Council of America, to discuss the situation of Jews in the Soviet Union and to plan a possible emergency campaign against the discriminations practiced against them by the Soviet authorities.
Among the organizations expected to participate are B’nai B’rith, the American Jewish Committee, Jewish War Veterans of the United States, American Jewish Congress, Jewish Labor Committee, Hadassah and the National Council of Jewish Women. Rabbi Theodore Adams will preside.
The Synagogue Council of America is the organization of lay and rabbinical groups affiliated with all three branches of American Judaism-Orthodox, Conservative and Reform. In its call to its affiliated groups, the Council noted that tomorrow’s conference will bear a religious note, representing all of American religious Jewry, due to the fact that the persecutions of Soviet Jews affects the practitioners and observers of the Jewish religion, customs and traditions.
