The overwhelming majority of the Jews in England are “instinctively Zionist in outlook,” it was declared today by Prof. Selig Brodetsky, Zionist leader and president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews.
The statement was made in the course of a lecture on “Sixty Years of Jewish Life in Britain,” opening the second term of the Institute for Jewish Learning. Prof. Brodetsky stressed the spiritual importance of general and Jewish immigration to England, declaring the merger of refugees with the English Jews was a “good shiduch” (marriage), since the latter had been divorced from Jewish cultural life while the German Jews had been too much immersed in the philosophical side of Jewish life.
