A man who stole on Yom Kippur was sentenced to six months at hard labor and accused of cowardice by the presiding judge because he chose a day on which the streets were deserted.

The culprit is Shlomo Yokhanoff, who broke into the Polish Settlers Bank here on the Day of Atonement.

Lester S. Levy has been elected president of the Young Men’s and Young Women’s Hebrew Association of Baltimore, Md., to succeed Harry Greenstein, who held the post for eleven years.

Other officers chosen were Felix Rothschild, first vice-president; Leon M. Ginsberg, second vice-president; Joel G. D. Hutzler, treasurer, and Meyer Cohen, assistant treasurer. The board of directors unanimously decided to initiate a membership campaign next month, and Lee L. Dopkin was appointed chairman of the drive.
