Manitoba Premier Pays Tribute to Canadian Jewry at Assembly Session

Premier Duff Robin of Manitoba and the leaders of the two opposition parties participated in a tribute to the Jews of Canada at a session of the Legislative Assembly in connection with the bicentenary celebration of Jewish settlement in Canada.

The Provincial Prime Minister paid tribute to the “very impressive contribution that the people of the Jewish faith have made throughout the length and breadth of Canada, to the development and growth of our nation. ” He added that he spoke for the House when he said that “we in this Legislature rejoice with them in their anniversary, and have pleasure in taking this opportunity in conveying to them our hearty appreciation of what they have done in the building of the Canadian nation, and our very best wishes for what they will be undertaking in the days to come. “

D.L.Campbell, leader of the opposition, and R. Paulley, House leader of the CCF, also spoke on the Jewish contribution to the upbuilding of Canada. Two Jewish members of the Legislature, M. A. Gray and D. Orlikow,responded.
