A letter written by Albert Einstein, the funeral oration delivered by Lord Cecil honoring Georges Clemenceau and two poems by Rudyard Kipling were among the manuscripts sold at an auction held here for the aid of Jewish emigre intellectuals.
The auction, which was under the auspices of the French Committee for Protecting Jewish Intellectuals, raised a total of 13,500 francs. The committee in charge included Leon Berard, politically prominent French jurist, and Marine Minister Francois Pietri. The collection auctioned included twenty-eight manuscripts by French and English writers.
