Many Germans were killed in a battle with Jewish residents of the ghetto in Luck, Poland, when they came to deport all the Jews to death camps, it is revealed in a communication from a former resident of Luck, now residing in Rovno, received by her relatives in Tel Aviv. The battle took place on December 12, 1942.
The letter also discloses that the entire membership of the Jewish council in the town of Koritz, also in Poland, committed suicide when they learned that the Germans planned to liquidate the whole Jewish community. At present, the writer says, there are only 52 Jews in Koritz.
