Many Jewish businessmen suffered “considerable material damage” through vandalism and robberies in Panama during the recent outbreaks of conflicts there in connection with disputes between Panama and the United States, according to a report received here today by the World Jewish Congress.
The report, from Moises A. Mizrachi, president of the Sephardic Jewish Community of Panama, added, however, that there were no Jewish casualties in the recent rioting there. The total Panamanian Jewish population is 1,800. Most of the Jews live in Panama City, and there is a smaller community at Colon, Mr. Mizrachi reported.
