The names of many Jewish artists and writers are included in the list of winners of Stalin prizes for 1942, which is published in Izvestia today.
Among those honored are Prof. David Oistrakh, famous violinist; sculptor Lazar Manizer for his statue of the heroic partisan girl “Tanya;” scenario writer Gabrilovich and director Reizeman for the motion picture “Mashenka;” cameraman Chaim Uchitel for his filming of the “Battle for Leningrad;” and many others.
