Eighty-two Jews, mostly women and children, were killed by the Nazis in the Tunisian city of Gafsa before the advancing British Eighth Army forced them to retreat from the town, according to reports reaching here today.
During the period that they held Gafsa, the German authorities threatened the Arab population with the death penalty and the confiscation of all their property if they sheltered any Jews.
