Funeral services were held today for Manya Schochat, a veteran Zionist and one of the founders of the Histadrut, the Israel labor federation and-of Kfar Giladi, one of the early settlements in eastern Galilee, who died at her home Friday at the age of 81.
Born in Russia, the former Manya Wilbushewitz was a co-founder of the Anfandige Yiddishe Arbeiger Partei trade union organization. She emigrated to Palestine in 1904 where she served on the Hashomer defense organization, the Palestine Labor Legion and later with the Hagansh. She was active in the Arab Jewish Friendship League and the Hapoel Sports organization.
Mrs. Schochat’s body lay in state at the Histadrut building before the funeral cortege proceeded to Kfar Giladi cemetery, where interment took place.
