Mapai and Mapam representatives negotiating a Mapai proposal to the Mapam to Join the present coalition government conferred for three hours yesterday without discussing fundamental issues, it was learned here today.
Mapam delegates were said to have opposed the distribution of Cabinet portfolios at this time on the grounds that they would first prefer to reach a basic agreement between the two parties. Such an agreement would cover “a minimum foreign and domestic policy understanding,” it is believed. The next meeting of the negotiators has been scheduled for Thursday.
