Chaim Zadok, a Mapai member of the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, was today named Minister of Commerce and Industry, a portfolio held until now by Finance Minister Pinhas Sapir.
The new appointment raises the number of Mapai Cabinet Ministers to 12. It is assumed that the other coalition partners–the National Religious Party and Achdut Avoda consented to the appointment. Mr. Zadok, a lawyer who has been a member of the Knesset since 1959, was chairman of the committee which drew up recent income tax reform.
