A special committee entrusted with the task of preparing a “comprehensive plan for the present emergency situation” which Israel faces was established today by the Mapai, Israel’s Labor Party, which is the leading government party.
The decision to establish such a committee was adopted at the conclusion today of a two-day conference of Mapai’s political committee together with the members of the party in Israel’s Parliament. Premier David Ben Gurion and Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett reported to the conference on Israel’s situation. The committee is headed by Pinhas Lavon, former Defense Minister.
