A demand that the Israel Government resist American “pressure” and refuse American financial aid was made here today by Moshe Sneh, left-wing Socialist Mapam deputy, in the course of a parliamentary debate on the proposed four-month budget.
Frequently interrupted by protests from the Labor Party, Dr. Sneh suggested that the government float a 100,000,000-pound internal bond issue and take other measures to siphon off the excess currency in circulation. He attacked the government’s entire fiscal policy, insisting that it would inevitably lead to a restriction on immigration.
David Horowtiz, head of the Israel Treasury, emplaned today for the United States on a government mission.
In Nathanya, a street was named in honor of James G. McDonald, first American Ambassador to Tel Aviv, who retired recently. At municipal ceremonies attended by high national officials, Mayor Oved Ben-Ami praised McDonald’s services to the Jewish state.
