President Zalman Shazar today ordered a reduction in the sentence of Aharon Cohen, the Mapam leader who was given a five-year prison term for conveying information to foreign agents in violation of the Official Secrets Act.
Cohen, who was first sentenced in January 1962 and whose term was reduced last September by the Israel Supreme Court to two-and-a-half years, will be released on Tuesday under today’s Presidential order.
