Members of Mapam’s political committee opposed to the government’s policies in the administered territories assailed Defense Minister Moshe Dayan at a meeting yesterday and accused the government of providing inferior housing for Arab refugees on the West Bank. The West Bank has always known monarchy–once it was King Hussein, now it’s King Moshe,” declared Meir Beeri, head of Mapam’s Arabic department.
Beeri compared photographs of pre-fab housing built for Arab refugees with pictures of housing built for a nearby Israeli village. He said the difference was “a shame” for Israel. As a member of the Labor Alignment and coalition partner, Mapam technically shares responsibility for the government policies attacked by some of its members.
