The national council of Mapam, following two days of deliberations, decided to accept the Mapai’s proposal that it join the present coalition government. The decision will be implemented “providing negotiations for a program agreed to by both sides on government policy can be successfully concluded,” it was announced.
The Mapam delegation conducting the negotiations was composed of Meir Yaari, Yaacov Hazan, Israel Galili, Yaacov Riftin, Itzhak Ben Aharon and Israel Bar Yehuda. At the same time, the Mapam council determined the party’s principles vis-a-vis foreign and domestic policy, immigrant absorption and labor problems.
