Declaring American Jewry had a “mission to save European Jewry and thereby democracy,” Simon Marcovici-Cleja, Paris financier, arrived on the Queen Mary today to discuss with leaders here a plan for large-scale emigration of Jews from European countries on a business rather than a philanthropic basis. He was accompanied by his wife.

Although he declined to divulge details of his proposal, M. Marcovici-Cleja indicated that it had the support of leading Frenchmen, including a number of former Cabinet members, and many British M.P.’s. He declared, also, that he has interested some “important American Jews” in his plan and that a first-rank American bank has promised its assistance. The plan, according to M. Marcovici-Cleja, is outlined in a volume, “The Solution to the Jewish World Problem,” published privately in French and English.
