Arkansas, which has about 3,000 Jews, had an old marriage law (Statutes of 1838) which was worded so as to exclude Jewish ministers from performing the ceremony. This law remained unchanged until 1873, when, through the exertions of M. A. Cohn of Little Rock, the blunder was corrected in revised statutes.
