Secretary of State George C. Marshall declined any comment on the Palestine problem today on the grounds that the negotiations in London are not yet completed, and that the confereces were still struggling with the issue. He was asked at his press conference today if he would comment on Foreign Secretary Bevin’s proposal to submit the issue to the United Nations.
When a British correspondent said that the negotiations had been concluded and that Bevin had announced that the question would be presented to the U.N., Marshall replied that he was informed shortly before the beginning of the press conference that negotiations were still under way.
