Secretary of State George C. Marshall told his news conference today that he has just received the Israeli Government’s protest that American military authorities in Germany are preventing the departure of Jews of military age and experience from displaced persons camps there. Sec. Marshall indicated that the delicacy of the matter is such that he can make no comment on the protest until he has studied it further.
Meanwhile, the Israeli mission here disclosed that the protest–the first one delivered by the new state to the United States–was presented to the State Department “the middle of last week, but we are not giving out the exact late.”
