Martin Gottlieb, one of the three brothers Gottieb, all well known painters, has died here suddenly at the age of 63. Gottlieb was well known also in America, where several of his pictures were bought, notably “Pogrom” and “The Wailing Wall”.
The most famous of the three brothers was the eldest, Moritz Gottlieb, who died in 1879 at the age of 23, a genius out off at the beginning of his career.
The youngest brother, Leopold Gottlieb, who is 48 years of age, is now living in Paris. He was at one time a teacher at the Bezalal School of Art in Jerusalem, and his paintings include portraits of several famous personalities, among them Marshal Pilsudski, Gino Pascin and Shalom Ash.
