The Prince George’s County Commissioners have reversed an earlier decision and will permit the Jewish Congregation of Laurel to continue use of a building in a residential section there as a synagogue. Previously, the commissioners had denied use of the edifice for synagogue purposes and had given the congregation 90 days to find a new meeting place. The action was taken because the congregation could not provide parking space to satisfy zoning regulation requirements.
In reversing their decision, the commissioners acted on a compromise arrangement proposed by a local property-owner’s association and accepted by the congregation.
