Maurice Edelman, a member of Parliament representing the Labor Party, and long active in the affairs of the Anglo-Jewish Association, was elected at a meeting of the organization’s governing council here tonight as president of the group. His name had been proposed by R.N. Carvalho, the association’s outgoing president.
Mr. Edleman has been a member of the association’s council for many years, was chairman of the organization’s external affairs committee and was, until tonight, vice-president of the parliamentary committee. A founding member of the Council of Europe, he was made an officer of the French Legion d’Honneur in 1960.
