Dr. Maurice Taylor, executive director of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of Pittsburgh, was elected president of the National Conference of Jewish Social Welfare at the final session today of the 1940 meeting. He succeeds Dr. John Slawson, director of the Jewish Board of Guardians of New York city.
More than 700 delegates from every State in the Union and from Canada attended the convention, participating in 75 sessions covering every field of Jewish social welfare work, center work and education. Meeting simultaneously with the National Conference were the National Association of Jewish Center Workers and the National Council for Jewish Education.
Officers who will serve with Dr. Taylor during the coming year are: Louis Kraft, New York, executive director of the Jewish Welfare Board, first vice president; Harold Silver of the Jewish Social Service Bureau, Detroit, second vice president; Josph E. Beck, Philadelphia, treasurer, and Marcel Kovarsky, New York, secretary.
