Max S. Pohs has accepted the chairmanship of a new campaign unit of the United Jewish Appeal for German Jewish relief, it was announced yesterday at the close of a meeting at the Commodore Hotel, attended by representatives of the drapery, upholstery, curtain and allied trades.
The new division of the Trades Council, which is headed by Michael Schaap, has been organized to assist the $1,200,000 campaign now going on in New York for the relief and rehabilitation of German Jews and for the settlement of Jews in Palestine.
The members of the committee who will assist Pohs are: Arthur Oppenheimer Jr., Max Robb, Joseph Alexander, Walter Barbe, Martin Bernstein, Charles Bloom, William R. Heitner, max Herman, William King, Charles Shapiro, Irving Silverstein, Nathan Klau, S. A. Dix and Samuel Rich.
CONCERT TO FEATURE RALLY
A concert of Jewish music will be the feature of a mass meeting to be held in the auditorium of Temple Anshe Chesed, West End avenue and 100the street, on Tuesday evening in the interests of the Appeal, it was announced by Elias A Cohen, president of the congregation, who, with Rabbi Joseph Beitlin, is arranging the function.
