Maximilian Harden, famous German publicist, editor of “Die Zukunft” died Sunday night at Montana Vermala, Switzerland. He was 66 years old.
Harden, one of the most prominent publicists in Europe, whose writings greatly influenced public opinion, a strong opponent of the former Kaiser, was the son of Jewish parents. He was born in Berlin. Oct. 20, 1861. At the age of 16 he was baptised, abandoning his name, Isador Witkowski.
His work, “War in Peace” won the Strindberg Prize. His latest work, “From Versailles to Versailles” will be published soon.
After the assassination of Dr. Walter Rathenau, German Jewish statesman, in 1922 an attempt was made on the life of Harden. Although seriously wounded he recovered.
