Meier Dizengoff, 75-year-old mayor of the all-Jewish city of Tel Aviv, was made an honorary commander of the British Empire for public services to Palestine, according to King Edward’s birthday honors list made public today.

Avinoam Yellin, senior inspector of the Palestine Education Department, was named honorary member of the British Empire, Ezekiel Cohen, principal clerk in the office of the High Commissioner of Basutoland, Africa, received the title Companion of the Imperial Service Order.

The Order of the British Empire was conferred on Rabbi David Isaac Freedman for public social and welfare services to Australia.
