Mayor Teddy Kollek, of Jerusalem, said today that he would head the Alignment (Labor Party-Mapam) list in next month’s municipal elections but only if the Rafi faction does not break away from the Labor Party. The Alignment council here apparently agreed to his proviso.
Mayor Kollek is a former member of Rafi. He has supported electoral reforms whereby voters would cast ballots directly for the mayoral candidate instead for party lists.
