Deputy Mayor Charles Horowitz of New York City today proclaimed the week of March 16 to 23 “Mizrachi Golden Jubilee Week” in a ceremony at his offices in City Hall.
A group of national officials of the Mizrachi, led by Dr. Pinkhos Churgin, president, received the proclamation, which formally launched the observance of the 50 year anniversary throughout the 280 chapters and districts of the religious-Zionist movement in the United States. Dr. Churgin presented the Mayor with a silver wine cup made in Israel, on behalf of Rabbi Isar Jehuda Unterman, Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv, who recently returned to Israel after a visit to the U.S. on behalf of the State of Israel bond issue.
