The Mayors of Israel’s major cities and towns have been renominated to head their parties’ lists as campaigning for municipal posts got under way today. Municipal elections will take place on November 3, the same day as the elections to the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament.
Mayor Gershon Agron will again head the Mapai list of candidates to the Jerusalem Municipal Council, while Mayor Abba Khoushy of Haifa will be the Mapai top candidate in that city. General Zionist Mayor Haim Levanon will head his party’s list in Tel Aviv. Mapai is still trying to persuade Labor Minister Mordechai Namir to head the Party’s Tel Aviv slate.
